An important difference with digital x-ray systems is that they do not use any chemicals, which can be harmful to patients as well as the environment.
With regards to radiation, the actual dose you receive during digital radiography is quite minimal. It’s equivalent to the natural radiation you would be exposed to when flying at 36,000 feet for 30 minutes. In fact, digital radiography produces on average just one-tenth the dose of a conventional x-ray machine!
